Basic Overbust Corset - PRINTED pattern
A multi size paper pattern for a sleek and simple modern style overbust corset.
This corset has 12 panels (6 each side) and is designed to give a smooth, sleek silhouette. It's a pretty curvy pattern with an 8cm waist reduction, but is super comfy, and can easily be adapted if you'd prefer less reduction. It has a 4cm lacing gap factored into the pattern, so is designed to have a gap at the back. You can remove the lacing gap by adding width in the back panels if you prefer. Sizes 6-26 are included, see size chart in the product images for more information.
Photographed samples are in size 12 (grey corset) and size 26 (cream corset).
As a rough guideline, this pattern requires the following materials:
- 90cm of 150cm wide coutil for a single layer corset with self-made boning channels in same coutil.
- OR 90cm each of 150cm wide fashion, strength and lining fabrics.
- Two piece busk. 30-33cm depending on corset size.
- Boning - dependant on preference. Our sample has been made with 7mm spiral steel bones on the seam lines and in the centre of each panel, and a flat steel bone either side of the eyelets and beside the busk. We used approximately 6.5 metres of 7mm spiral steel and 2.2 metres of flat steel (for a size 26 sample).
- Bone channeling - approximately 7 metres depending on size. For 7mm spiral steel, use channeling approximately12mm wide. This leaves room for 8/9mm channels and a millimetre or two on each side for stitching. Our sample uses self-made coutil boning channels cut at 24mm to create 12mm strips of channeling.
- 5mm hole eyelets - approximately 30-34 depending on corset size/height at the centre back. Our size 26 sample is laced with a total of 32 eyelets - 16 per side.
- Binding material - up to 3m depending on corset size.
- Lacing ribbon - 3-4m of your preferred lacing material.
PLEASE NOTE: The pattern information covers required materials, basic measurements and sewing order. It does not include detailed instructions for inserting busks/eyelets/binding etc. This pattern also does not include seam allowances.
This is a PRINTED pattern, no home printing required.
